Senior & Aging-in-Place Modifications in Williamson County, TX
Stay in your home. Safely. Comfortably. For as long as you choose.
Why This Matters
We’re based in Georgetown. Sun City — the largest 55+ active adult community in Texas — is right here. We’re in Sun City every week, working with homeowners who’ve decided this is where they’re staying.
That’s a decision we respect deeply.
Aging in place isn’t about making your home feel like a hospital. It’s about making smart modifications that keep you safe and comfortable — changes that work with your home’s design, not against it. A grab bar that matches your bathroom hardware. A threshold that’s flush instead of raised. A lever handle that works when your grip isn’t what it used to be.
These modifications aren’t dramatic. But they’re the difference between confidence and anxiety. Between staying home and being told you can’t.
We’ve installed hundreds of grab bars, widened dozens of doorways, and modified bathrooms, entryways, and kitchens across Sun City and all of Georgetown. We know what works. We know what matters. And we take the time to do it right — because this isn’t just a repair. It’s your independence.
Our Approach
Every modification starts with a conversation. We listen to what’s becoming difficult, what worries you, and what your home needs to work better. Then we make specific recommendations — no upselling, no scare tactics, just honest advice about what will make the biggest difference.
Grab bars — installed properly. This is our most common aging-in-place request. And the most important. A grab bar installed into drywall with toggle bolts is dangerous — it’ll hold for a while, then pull out exactly when you need it. We anchor every grab bar into studs. Period. If the stud isn’t where the bar needs to be, we add blocking behind the wall so the bar is exactly where your hand reaches.
We match the finish to your existing bathroom hardware — brushed nickel, chrome, oil-rubbed bronze, matte black. Safety doesn’t have to look institutional.
Step and threshold modifications. Raised thresholds between rooms are a tripping hazard. We modify or replace them with flush transitions. Sliding glass door tracks get ramped. Exterior step-ups get low-profile ramps or modified treads. Small changes that eliminate the most common fall points.
Wider door clearances. Standard doorways are 30-32 inches wide. A walker needs 36 inches. A wheelchair needs more. We widen doorways, install offset hinges that add 2 inches of clearance without reframing, replace round knobs with lever handles, and adjust closers for easier operation. Our workshop lets us build custom trim to match your originals after the modification — so the wider doorway looks like it was always there.
Step-free transitions. Where steps can be eliminated — a gradual ramp to the front door, a flush connection between the patio and interior, a garage entry modification — we build that instead. Our workshop fabricates custom ramps and handrails that match your home’s style.
Lever handles throughout. Round doorknobs are difficult for arthritic hands. We replace them with lever-style handles on every door — interior, exterior, bathroom. Consistent style, matching finish, installed in a single visit. Same for faucets — lever handles instead of knobs.
Lighting upgrades. Good lighting prevents falls. We add under-cabinet lights in kitchens, motion-sensor lights in hallways and bathrooms, brighter fixtures in transitions and entryways, and nightlights where they matter. Dim areas become confident pathways.
Bathroom safety beyond grab bars. Non-slip flooring, hand-held shower heads, shower bench installation, raised toilet seats, and better lighting. We approach the bathroom as a complete system — each change makes the next one work better.
The Workshop Advantage
When modifications require custom ramps, handrails, or trim to match existing profiles after widening a doorway, we build them in our workshop. The modification looks like it was always part of the house — not an afterthought bolted on.

Frequently Asked Questions
Individual items: grab bars run $75-$200 installed (depending on size and whether wall blocking is needed). Lever handle replacement is $50-$100 per handle. A typical initial round — a few grab bars, lever handles throughout, and a light fixture upgrade — runs $500-$1,500. Door widening ranges from $400-$800 per opening. We give you a specific price after walking through your home.
No. And that's the most important thing we can tell you. A grab bar must be anchored into studs or solid backing. If the studs aren't where the bar needs to be, we install blocking behind the drywall first. Every bar we install is rated for the load and secured properly. This is safety work. Zero shortcuts.
Absolutely. This is a common scenario. Your parents live in Sun City or Georgetown. You live elsewhere. You want someone trustworthy to make their home safer. Call us — we'll coordinate the walkthrough, send you the plan and pricing, and handle the work. We'll keep you informed at every step. Your parents get a craftsman they can trust. You get peace of mind.
We do, and it's a smooth process. If your therapist has provided a specific list of modifications, we review it and handle the installation to their specifications. We understand the clinical reasoning behind specific bar placements, door widths, and transition requirements. We've done this many times.
Not the way we do them. We use hardware and fixtures that match your home's existing style. Grab bars come in brushed nickel, chrome, matte black, and oil-rubbed bronze — same finishes as any bathroom fixture. Lever handles look like a style choice, not a medical necessity. Ramps get painted to match your home's trim. The goal is safer without looking different.
It's never too early. Many of our clients in their 50s and 60s make these modifications proactively — before they're needed urgently. A grab bar installed at 60 is a fall you don't have at 72. Planning ahead is the smartest approach.
