Why This Matters

Williamson County sits on clay soil. When it rains, the clay expands. When it dries — and in a Central Texas summer, it dries hard and fast — the clay contracts. Your foundation shifts with it. Sometimes a fraction of an inch per season. That movement travels up through the framing and shows up as cracks in your drywall.

It’s not a sign your house is falling apart. It’s a sign you live in Central Texas.

But here’s what most handymen get wrong: they spackle over the crack and call it done. Six months later, the crack is back — because the spackle has zero flexibility, and the soil didn’t stop moving.

That’s a patch job. Your home deserves a real repair.

The other problem we see constantly? Nail pops. The framing lumber in your walls dries and shrinks over the first few years after construction. Drywall nails get pushed out. You see little bumps and circles appearing on walls and ceilings. Homes built in the last 5-10 years across Georgetown, Leander, and Liberty Hill are especially prone.

Water damage is the third culprit. A roof leak during a spring storm. A slow pipe drip behind a bathroom wall. By the time you see the stain on the ceiling, the sheetrock behind it may already be soft and crumbling.

Our Approach

Metro Service Pros doesn’t just fill holes. We figure out what happened and fix it properly so the repair lasts.

For cracks caused by foundation movement:
We cut a clean V-groove along the crack, apply fiberglass mesh tape — not paper tape, which tears when the wall moves again — then skim with multiple thin coats of joint compound. Each coat gets sanded smooth. The result flexes with your home instead of cracking again next summer.

For holes and impact damage:
Small holes get a proper backing and compound fill. Larger holes — doorknob strikes, plumbing access cuts, anything bigger than a fist — get a new piece of drywall cut to fit. We set it in, tape the seams, and mud it smooth. No California patches held on with spackle and a prayer.

For water damage:
First, we make sure the water source is fixed. We won’t paint over a leak. Then we cut out the damaged section, check the framing behind it for mold or rot, replace the drywall, and finish it clean. If the framing needs attention, we handle that too — or we tell you straight if it needs a specialist.

For texture matching:
This is where most repairs fall apart. Your walls have a texture — knockdown, orange peel, skip trowel, smooth, or something the original builder applied and nobody can name. We match it. We bring sample boards and test the texture before applying it to your wall. When we’re done, you shouldn’t be able to find the repair.

That texture match is the difference between a repair that disappears and one that announces itself every time the afternoon light hits the wall.

The Workshop Advantage

When drywall damage involves more than just sheetrock — a rotted section of framing behind the wall, a custom piece of trim that needs replacing after the repair, a built-in shelf that was damaged — we handle all of it. The drywall gets fixed, the framing gets repaired, and the trim gets custom-milled in our shop to match. One crew. One call.

Frequently Asked Questions

Small patches (nail holes, minor dings) run $75-$150 each. Larger repairs — a full section replacement with texture matching — are typically $250-$500 depending on size and texture complexity. For multiple repairs, the Honey-Do Package at $497 usually makes more sense than pricing each one individually. We'll give you a specific number after seeing the damage.

Yes. That's actually what separates a good drywall repair from a visible one. We match knockdown, orange peel, skip trowel, smooth, and the other Central Texas textures we see every week. We test the pattern on a sample board before applying it to your wall — not just close, but right.

Clay soil. Williamson County's expansive clay shifts with moisture changes — swelling when wet, contracting when dry. The cracks follow stress points, typically around door frames, window corners, and where walls meet ceilings. Proper repair with fiberglass mesh tape helps the fix move with the wall instead of cracking again. Consistent foundation watering during dry months helps too.

Hairline cracks around door frames and ceiling joints are normal in this area — clay soil shifts, and the drywall shows it. These are cosmetic and we fix them regularly. If the crack is wider than a quarter inch, recurring after proper repair, or accompanied by doors that won't close and visible foundation movement, that could signal something deeper. We'll tell you straight if what we're seeing needs a foundation specialist instead of drywall work.

We prep every repair for paint — sanded smooth, primed, and ready. If you have the matching paint on hand, we'll apply it. If not, we can match the color and include painting in the scope. Either way, you won't be left staring at a visible patch waiting for someone to paint it.
