Why This Matters

Nobody thinks about their gutters until water is pouring over the side and pooling against the foundation. By then, you’re not dealing with a gutter problem anymore — you’re dealing with a foundation problem, a landscaping problem, or a fascia board rotting from the inside out.

In Williamson County, gutters take a beating from two directions. Live oak leaves drop year-round — not just in fall. They shed in spring too, right when the heavy rains hit. And those spring storms in Central Texas aren’t gentle. A single April thunderstorm can dump 2-3 inches in an hour. If your gutters are packed with leaf litter and oak pollen, that water has nowhere to go except over the edge and straight down your foundation walls.

The other culprit is cedar pollen. From November through March, cedar fever season coats everything in Williamson County — including the inside of your gutters. That fine yellow-green film mixes with decomposing leaves and creates a dense sludge that hardens into the gutter channel. Standard leaf guards don’t stop it.

We see the same pattern every spring: a homeowner calls about water stains on their soffit or fascia. We get up on the ladder and find gutters so packed they’re pulling away from the roofline. The screws have loosened because the weight of wet debris exceeds what the brackets were designed to hold. Now it’s not just a cleaning — it’s a repair.

That’s the job nobody tells you about: catching small problems before they become expensive ones.

Our Approach

Metro Service Pros doesn’t just scoop and go. We treat gutter cleaning as a maintenance inspection because that’s what it actually is.

We clear every inch by hand. Leaf blowers on rooftops scatter debris across your yard and miss the compacted stuff at the bottom of the channel. We work section by section, removing all debris — leaves, pollen sludge, shingle grit, the occasional tennis ball — by hand.

We flush every downspout. A clean gutter with a clogged downspout is useless. We run water through every downspout to confirm it’s flowing freely. If it’s packed, we clear it. If the elbow at the bottom is crushed or disconnected, we fix it.

We inspect while we’re up there. Since we’re already on the ladder, we check for:

  • Gutter brackets pulling away from the fascia
  • Seam separations or pinhole leaks
  • Fascia board condition behind the gutter (soft spots = early rot)
  • Downspout connections and ground-level drainage
  • Shingle condition along the roof edge

If we find something, we tell you and quote the repair separately. Small fixes — reseating a bracket, sealing a seam, reattaching a downspout — we can usually handle on the spot.

We clean up after ourselves. The debris comes off the roof and goes in a bag, not on your flower beds.

The Workshop Advantage

When a gutter section is damaged beyond cleaning — dented, rusted through, or the fascia behind it has rotted — we handle the full repair. We replace the rotted fascia board, install new gutter sections, and make sure everything drains correctly. The woodwork gets done right because we’re carpenters first, not just gutter cleaners.

Frequently Asked Questions

A standard single-story home typically runs $150-$250. Two-story homes run $200-$350 depending on roof pitch, linear footage, and how long it's been since the last cleaning. If gutters haven't been cleaned in over a year and there's compacted debris, expect the higher end. For regular maintenance, our quarterly Maintenance Plan at $197/quarter includes gutter cleaning every visit — usually the best value if you want it handled consistently.

Twice a year is the minimum — once in late spring after oak pollen season and once in late fall. But in Williamson County, with live oaks that shed year-round and cedar pollen from November through March, quarterly is better. That's why we include gutter cleaning in every quarterly Maintenance Plan visit.

No. Gutter guards reduce the amount of large debris that enters the gutter, but fine particles — cedar pollen, shingle grit, decomposed leaf matter — still get through. Guards can also trap debris on top, creating a different maintenance issue. We'll assess your situation and tell you honestly whether guards make sense for your home and tree coverage.

We handle section repairs — reseating brackets, sealing seams, replacing short damaged sections, and fixing downspout connections. If the entire gutter system needs replacement, we'll refer you to a gutter installer and can handle the fascia repair if the wood behind the gutter is rotted.
